Virechan
Virechan Karma (Therapeutic Purgation)
What is virechan Karma?
Virechan Karma is one of the important Panchakarma therapies in Ayurveda, mainly focused on eliminating excess Pitta dosha and toxins (Ama) from the body. It uses safe, herbal purgatives that act on the intestines to cleanse the digestive system in a controlled and therapeutic way.
Before Virechan, the body is prepared with Snehana (oleation) and Swedana (sudation), which help loosen toxins and bring them to the gastrointestinal tract. The purgation process then clears accumulated Pitta, providing relief from liver, gallbladder, and skin-related disorders.
This therapy is highly beneficial for conditions like chronic acidity, skin diseases, migraines, and inflammatory issues. Along with improving digestion and metabolism, Virechan also enhances skin health, balances emotions, and promotes overall lightness and mental clarity.
Indications
Vibandh (Constipation)
Virechan stimulates the intestines to expel toxins and dryness, restoring normal bowel movements and easing constipation.
Krimi (Worm Infestations)
The purgation process expels intestinal parasites and their toxins from the digestive tract. It strengthens gut health and improves appetite and overall immunity.
Kamala (Jaundice)
Virechan eliminates excess Pitta from the liver and gallbladder, supporting liver function, lowering bilirubin, and aiding jaundice recovery.
Kushtha (Skin Disorders)
By removing excess Pitta and toxins from the blood, Virechan purifies the skin internally. It is highly beneficial in conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
Pakshaghata (Paralysis)
Virechan clears toxins affecting nerves and circulation, improving body balance, muscle strength, and aiding rehabilitation.
Tamak Shwas (Bronchial Asthma)
Virechan expels Kapha and Pitta from the chest and digestive tract. This reduces breathlessness, wheezing, and improves overall respiratory health.
